About Us
Vision
To transform and grow the UNA community through global learning, services, and engagement.
Mission
OIA serves as the catalyst for fulfilling UNA’s international education mission through specialized services and premier programs by enhancing academic excellence, enriching cultural experience, and energizing economic growth. OIA consists of international recruitment and admissions, international student and scholar success, education abroad and international exchange, academic English, and global partnership development.
The Office of International Affairs is sub-divided into four operational units that provide specialized services to meet the needs of UNA students.
The International Admissions department evaluates all admission materials and determines admissibility for all prospective English as a Second Language (ESL) and undergraduate students. This department also assists students' transition from ESL to academic programs. It is important to remember that ALL documents submitted to the admissions department become property of the University of North Alabama and that copies will not be made available after they have been submitted.

Student Services helps international students adjust to life in the U.S. Student Services provides personal and social adjustment support to students throughout their academic studies at UNA. In addition, Student Services is responsible for all SEVIS reporting and can assist you with questions and concerns related to your legal status in the U.S., immigration issues, I-20 (forms), and DS-2019 (forms). Additionally, this department handles all Practical Training (CPT & OPT) and work authorizations.

Education Abroad offers UNA students, faculty, staff, and community members numerous opportunities to engage in hands-on learning around the world. There are opportunities to participate in the fall, spring, and summer terms. Students will earn credits toward their degree program while keeping their same graduation date. Thanks to multiple sources of financial aid and scholarships, participating in Education Abroad through UNA has never been more affordable.
The Academic English Program (AEP) is available to students who need to improve English proficiency before beginning academic study at UNA. AEP is offered in five skills and at five levels. Placement tests are given at the time of initial enrollment. Motivated students can move quickly through this intensive program while studying in an English-immersion environment and participating in university campus life.
